Job Description

Title: One on One Teacher Aide, Life Skills

Reports To: Faculty (as assigned) and Director of Student Services

Job Goal: Assist the Teacher to achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students.

Terms of Employment: As assigned

Performance Responsibilities
  • Work with individual students and/or small groups as designated by the students' Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Coursework or experience in working with students with disabilities.
  • Experience or training in using adaptive equipment to assist students to function in the educational environment.
  • Physically able to perform the requirements of the Student IEP.
  • Assist the Teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of the student, their needs, interests and abilities.
  • Operate and care for equipment or instructional materials used in the classroom and help the student master the items assigned by the Teacher.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the Teacher and Administration.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, leisure time, and field trips.
  • Serve as the chief source of information to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the Teacher.
  • Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Participate in in‑service training programs as assigned by Administration.
  • Abide by the Risk Management Plan as established by the Board of Education.
  • Maintain proper confidentiality and conduct guidelines in regards to students, faculty, and staff of the District.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Teacher or Assistant Principal.
Qualifications
  • Established by the State Board of Education – Proper Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
