Job Overview

Responsible for analyzing warranty data, conducting product teardowns, inspections, and identifying failure modes and root causes. The engineer communicates between cross‑functional teams in product engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and supplier quality departments to coordinate product and process improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform warranty analysis for assigned customer programs.
  • Lead teardown process and coordinate/perform component testing.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis and develop conclusions with documentation.
  • Generate weekly and monthly warranty reports for target audiences.
  • Prepare and present warranty findings to executive‑level stakeholders.
  • Lead warranty meetings to discuss findings with customers.
  • Coordinate product and process improvements based on warranty data and analysis.
  • Communicate warranty findings across cross‑functional teams.
  • Identify interim and permanent corrective actions with teams.
  • Perform warranty forecasts using statistical analysis to determine C/1000 and cost impact.
  • Gather, review, and approve warranty debits submitted by customers.
  • Analyze failure modes of returned parts and determine root cause(s).
  • Propose improvements to products and processes for warranty cost reduction.
  • Chart, summarize, and present data to internal and external customers in report format and during recurring teleconferences.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing across multiple sites.
  • Improve quality, processes, and address non‑conformance to drawings with quality, manufacturing, and assembly engineering teams.
  • Provide process capability analyses and apply SPC.
  • Evaluate torque transfer products in vehicle.
Qualifications
  • 4‑year degree in engineering required (Mechanical engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years experience in warranty analysis preferred.
  • Technical problem‑solving training and experience preferred (e.g., Shainin Red X®, Six Sigma, Toyota 8‑step, 5‑Why, AIAG CQI‑14, VDA QMC).
  • Engineering training and/or experience in tolerance stack‑up, fastening systems analysis, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferred.
  • Failure‑mode analysis experience or training preferred.
  • Experience with steel, aluminum, and magnesium preferred.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills essential.
Travel &

Physical Requirements

Travel is occasionally required, up to 5% of the time. Responsibilities include lifting shoulder‑high to 35 lbs. on occasion; safety policies and PPE compliance are mandatory.

Compensation

Salary Range: $62,000 – $85,250
