The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly specialized healthcare professional responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, operating imaging equipment, and ensuring radiation safety while collaborating with healthcare teams to deliver accurate diagnostic results.
Responsibilities- Educate patients about nuclear medicine procedures and address questions.
- Maintain and inspect equipment, reporting malfunctions and ensuring safety compliance.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications following protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and intervene as needed.
- Operate imaging equipment to create images according to physician orders.
- Document procedure details for continuity of care and regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to hospital safety rules and radiation safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- One year's experience as a Nuclear Medicine Tech.
- Current Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiography license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current ARRT or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
- Other certifications and licenses may be required.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication.
- English language proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
- Ability to read/comprehend instructions, follow verbal directions, and possess PC skills.
- Physical Abilities – remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, bend.
- Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain professionalism.
- Technical/Motor Skills – fine manipulation, assisting procedures, use equipment.
- Mental Requirements – cope with public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work with and without supervision, handle irregular schedules, maintain concentration.
