Position Summary

The Materials Associate is directly responsible for performing receiving, shipping, and storage functions in support of production operations according to established procedures. Must safely move materials to and from storage, shipping, receiving, and production areas with accurate and timely reporting of all material relocations.

Standard Duties
  • Load and unload materials, receive shipments into the company system, and verify materials against pack lists to ensure delivery accuracy.
  • Pick parts for shipment and packaging according to shipping procedures.
  • Use material‑moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, order‑pickers, and dollies to bring products and materials to appropriate locations.
  • Issue materials to departments upon request, including transacting inventory quantities and delivering parts to work areas.
  • Monitor inventory and report discrepancies in quantities to the team leader.
  • Stock replenishment, rotation, and combining where needed, and assist with cycle counting.
  • Transfer parts between bin locations with the company operation system and prepare and package parts for shipping.
  • Adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Operate all equipment only if certified.
  • Read and follow work instructions or oral instructions to execute material flow requirements.
  • Manually load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves by hand as required.
  • Accurately and timely enter materials transactional information into SAP and other required systems.
  • Perform inventory system transactions to add new quantities and remove inventory during shipping.
  • Read electronic and manual bill of materials, pull sheets, and pick sheets to retrieve and deliver necessary materials for operations.
  • Support 5S and housekeeping activities as required.
  • Use appropriate deviation areas and hold tags to process defective parts through the nonconforming material procedure.
  • Load/unload materials into trailers while adhering to dock safety protocol.
  • Meet physical logistics KPIs, associate engagement, and teamwork standards.
  • Follow FIFO standards throughout all storage areas and material flow points.
  • Wear all required PPE and follow box cutting safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety, Health, and

Physical Requirements
  • Stand for extended periods, including during operation of stand‑up lifts.
  • Lift up to 35 lbs repeatedly at shoulder height.
  • Step up and down off lifts and walk long distances.
  • Work in a fast‑paced, non‑climate‑controlled environment.
  • Perform moderate to high levels of standing, walking, stooping, or kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling, or pushing.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Occasionally work from heights and operate or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and industrial trucks.
  • Have good hand dexterity, hearing, and vision, and be able to distinguish color.
  • Be responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain punctual attendance at work.
  • Be flexible to work overtime and holidays as needed.

Education & Experience

Education: High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.

Experience
  • At least 6 months in a fast‑paced industrial lean environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • At least 1 year of material handling experience in a distribution environment preferred.
  • Prior experience with RF scanning.
  • At least 1 year as a certified equipment/forklift operator in a distribution environment or an active license is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and differentiate numbers.
Computer Skills
  • SAP or related warehouse management system experience preferred.
  • Entry‑level proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
