Job Summary

PPG Quality is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing team on 2nd Shift. This position is responsible for operating laser equipment to cut, mark, or process metal components according to production schedules and quality specifications. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and committed to producing precision work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate laser cutting or laser processing equipment in accordance with established work instructions.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished components safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure quality, accuracy, and production efficiency.
  • Inspect finished parts to verify compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Measure and verify dimensions using basic measuring tools as required.
  • Perform routine machine checks and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance concerns.
  • Complete production records and required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience & Skills
  • Previous manufacturing, machine operation, or laser operation experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prepare required paperwork completely and accurately.
  • Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and productively.
Physical Requirements

Applicants must be able to:

  • Lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety requirements.
  • Work safely in a manufacturing environment around industrial machinery.
