Responsibilities
The Team Leader is responsible for total team functions relative to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and teamwork. They oversee daily safety compliance, KPI performance, work assignment delegation, inventory management, training and support of team members, performance escalations, and consistent application of Borg Warner policies, procedures, and practices.
- Foster and drive Borg Warner beliefs of Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence, Responsibility, and Collaboration.
- Deliver policies, procedures, and practices consistently with zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or violence.
- Escalate workplace concerns to Human Resources and Area Leader immediately.
- Communicate business‑related information to management in a timely, detailed and accurate manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive information.
- Ensure team compliance to safety and environmental rules and regulations and ISO
45001/ISO
9001/TS16949 guidelines. - Conduct team huddles and safety talks.
- Perform inventory management to assist with on‑time delivery and communicate deviations as necessary.
- Mentor, drive and support good manufacturing practices and 5S standards.
- Coordinate department priorities and delegate duties to team members.
- Serve as the process subject matter expert in respective areas.
- Identify normal vs. abnormal conditions and take immediate action.
- Lead problem‑solving activities for areas of responsibility and assist operators and maintenance technicians in troubleshooting.
- Assist the Quality Technician in performing quality and documentation requirements.
- Assist with training and development of operators to ensure proper training metrics and documentation.
- Use manual and battery‑powered tools according to work instructions.
- Maintain compliance with records retention standards and provide timely and accurate production reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned and overtime may be required.
All applicants must be able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of leadership experience preferred; 1+ year of manufacturing or related experience required.
- Experience in fast‑paced industrial lean environment preferred.
- Experience with troubleshooting machines/equipment preferred.
- Intermediate level MS Office skills preferred; basic computer knowledge required.
- Physical requirements:
moderate lifting up to 35 lbs, moderate to high degree of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, close eye work, reaching, pulling or pushing, repetitive use of hands and wrist, wearing electrical personal protective equipment, ability to operate and multi‑task between 2 to 3 stations, and up to 15% travel for training. - Strong judgment, decision‑making, critical thinking, troubleshooting, teamwork, interpersonal skills, attendance, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and self‑starter attitude.
