Job Summary

Michaels purpose is to fuel the joy of creativity and celebration. We are looking to fill the Party and Event Host role with someone passionate about community connection and ready to create joy through crafting.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (e.g., kids birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress‑free, fun, and engaging experience for guests.
  • Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find items.
  • Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards.
Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children’s birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
  • Engage clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects, including face painting and other activities.
  • Facilitate and implement party add‑ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc., to company standards.
  • Communicate events with clients and store team members.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork.
  • Adjust plans and events based on clients’ feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Uphold the company’s cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
Customer Experience
  • Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
  • Engage customers on the benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
  • Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking and planogram (POG) processes.
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
  • Perform Store In Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
  • Support shrink and safety programs.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company programs to ensure compliance.
  • Interact with others respectfully and positively; promote commitment to the organization’s vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model.
  • Cross‑trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.

  • Retail and/or customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods.
  • Move throughout the store.
  • Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching.
  • Lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
  • Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
  • Handle tasks in public retail store setting with climate‑controlled public areas; some stock rooms may not be climate‑controlled; outdoor work may be required (e.g., retrieving shopping carts, unloading trucks).
  • Frame shop includes glass cutter and heat press.
  • Use reasonable accommodations if needed; contact supervisor for assistance.
