Clallam County Fire District #3 serves the community in critical moments. This newly established HR Manager role provides a unique opportunity to shape the people function of an organization built on service, trust, and teamwork. This role goes beyond traditional HR. You’ll establish structure, ensure compliance, and help build a cohesive, connected culture across firefighters, leadership, Commissioners, and three unions.
What You’ll Do- Build and lead the District’s HR function from the ground up
- Ensure compliance with Washington State employment laws
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, the Fire Chief, and Commissioners
- Foster strong relationships across three unions and administration
- Create clear HR policies, processes, and communications
- Establish HR as a trusted, approachable resource
- Employees confidently turn to HR
- Leadership has a reliable partner
- Union relationships are collaborative
- HR practices are consistent and compliant
- The organization operates as a unified team
Required:
- 5+ years HR experience with strong operational knowledge
- Knowledge of Washington State employment laws
- Ability to build trust and navigate sensitive situations
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Public sector or fire service experience
- Union experience
- HR certification (SHRM or HRCI)
The salary range for this position is $116,000–$143,000 annually, plus a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance; $25,000 life insurance; retirement benefits; paid sick leave; generous vacation and holiday leave; bereavement leave; and professional development opportunities.
