Front of House General Assistant – Live-In

A fantastic live-in opportunity has opened within a beautiful family-run country house in North Yorkshire.

We’re looking for a warm, capable and enthusiastic Front of House General Assistant who enjoys great food, genuine hospitality and working as part of a close-knit team.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You’ll work across restaurant, bar and guest service, with the chance to develop your skills within a high-quality dining environment.

What you’ll be doing as Front of House General Assistant

Welcome guests and deliver warm, attentive service
Provide food, drink and bar service to a high standard
Learn and confidently serve a 3 AA Rosette tasting menu
Support restaurant and front of house operations
Keep guest and service areas clean and well presented
Assist with laundry and table linen
Support reception and answer guest calls when required
Work closely with the wider team to deliver a smooth guest experience
What we’re looking for In A Front of House General Assistant

You’ll have previous food service experience, ideally within a hotel, restaurant or quality pub environment.
You’ll also bring:
A friendly and professional approach
Genuine interest in food and hospitality
Strong attention to detail
A calm and reliable approach
Good communication skills
A strong work ethic
Respect for colleagues and a team-first attitude
Willingness to learn and get involved

Experience with fine dining is welcome, but full training will be provided on the food and tasting menu.

The package

£26,500 salary
Tips
Meals on duty
28 days’ holiday
50% discount on food
Live-in country-style cottage accommodation for £50 per week (rent, bills and utilities all
included)

The accommodation
Comfortable shared cottages are located around five minutes' walk from the property.

You’ll have your own bedroom, with shared kitchen, dining and living spaces, plus garden access.

Hours
Around 40 hours per week, with a varied shift pattern including:

Day shifts, typically 7.30am to 3.30pm
Evening shifts, typically 3.00pm onwards
Split shifts covering breakfast and dinner
Shifts are shared fairly across the team.
