As a Commis Chef, you will assist the Chef de Partie in preparing food and performing basic cooking tasks. You will rotate through different kitchen areas – vegetables, fish, meat and sauces – on a six‑month programme, supporting all chefs to deliver catering services that meet residents' choice, dignity, confidentiality and safety. You will also take part in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss catering functions and address residents' special needs, including cultural and religious preferences.
Your role is to prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the chefs, and to produce special diet meals when required.
- Support all chefs to manage and deliver catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality and safety.
- Participate in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree on catering functions and address special dietary requirements, including cultural and religious preferences.
- Prepare nutritional food and beverages to a high standard and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
- Prepare special diet meals as needed under the direction of the chefs.

Qualifications- Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, NVQ or equivalent.
- Hold a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Have a minimum of 1‑year catering experience.
- Demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high‑quality culinary services to residents.
- Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities on short notice.
- DBS Disclosure check (cost covered by Avery Healthcare).
- Proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
