Job Description
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence, Anatomy and Physiology Instruction, Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences, School of Integrated Health Sciences [R0153614].
Role of the PositionThe Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences (KNS) is accepting applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence (non‑tenure track) faculty member on a 9‑month appointment. The primary teaching assignment will be lectures and laboratory instruction in Anatomy and Physiology. As a 9‑month position, summer teaching is available for additional compensation. We are seeking an experienced instructor to deliver innovative instruction to large lecture sections of students in a way that leads to high student success and mastery of concepts relevant to Kinesiology and other healthcare fields.
Background ScreeningEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment background screening. This position also requires the successful completion of a pre‑employment credit check.
Minimum QualificationsThis position requires a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.) from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This position also requires at least one year of university teaching experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications- At least 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching anatomy and physiology at the undergraduate level
- Expertise in the development and delivery of instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of evidence‑based and research‑informed teaching practices
- Experience with the development and application of active learning strategies
- Strong communication skills
- Evidence of successful collaboration with an instructional team
- Willingness to support and participate in programmatic assessment
- Experience with first‑generation college students and students from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds
- Previous coordination of multiple class sections
