Join us at Lockheed Martin as a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer working within the Lockheed Martin Space division. In this fast‑paced group, you will be part of an interdisciplinary engineering team supporting the design of high‑performance, high‑reliability hardware for both space and terrestrial applications.
This role is based in Severn, MD, and you will be responsible for the research, design, and test of RF components, equipment, and systems. Projects may include communications systems (Software Defined Radio), space‑flight systems, and other critical customer‑mission projects driven by low SWaP objectives, environmental concerns, and novel solutions.
What You’ll Do- Concept & Requirements – develop system requirements, derive link budgets, estimate antenna performance, conduct trade studies, and propose architecture solutions for communications payloads such as SDR and flight‑qualified hardware.
- Design & Implementation – develop RF circuits and subsystems (low‑noise and power amplifiers, filters, frequency synthesizers, up/down converters), generate models, conduct performance simulations, select components, generate Bills of Materials, and work with the Digital team on schematic capture and eCAD PCB layout.
- Prototype & Test – build and test prototype boards, run design verification tests, analyze results, and perform hands‑on testing of RF systems using Spectrum/Signal Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes, and provide antenna characterization support in anechoic chambers.
- Team Collaboration – partner with Senior RF, Digital, Mechanical, Software, Test, and Program Management teams to meet schedule, cost, and performance targets.
- Documentation & Communication – produce clear technical reports, system diagrams, design reviews, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
