Dairy Department Manager

At Wegmans, our Dairy department houses essential products our customers need. In the role of Dairy Manager, you’ll use strong managerial and leadership skills to ensure the overall success of the department. With a keen eye for merchandising and a passion for putting out the best products, you’ll be responsible for everything from department financials to product levels to employee development, working to meet customer and store needs.

• Oversee department operations which includes sales and contribution; share company vision and meet goals; delegate tasks and supervise team to maximize efficiency
• Manage performance and develop employees; provide resources, training and development opportunities
• Assist customers and work hands-on with employees, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge to provide incredible service to our customers
• Use knowledge of product, perishability, benchmarking and trends to plan, implement and create innovative displays

• 1 or more years of experience leading a team
• Computer skills

• A college degree
• Enthusiasm for and knowledge of relevant products

Experience ordering products and controlling inventory;
Collective internal and/or external managerial/supervisory experience living our values and achieving results in our 5 measures, including interviewing, selection, performance management, employee development and managing financials;
Related work experience;
Work Environment:
The physical demands of this work are classified as medium. Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, frequent heavy lifting, pushing and pulling, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, squatting, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, along with continuous interaction with customers and coworkers. The average weight range of items lifted is 8 – 32 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds occasionally.

Upper extremity repetition is moderate and trunk movement involves moderate twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with exposure to cold (33 – 55 degrees) temperatures. Basic tools and equipment used include milk crates, dollies, egg racks, box cutter, hand/power jack, compactor, baler, and u-cart.;
Merchandising experience in a retail setting;
Experience overseeing the daily operations of a large team and/or a multi-area department
