Lab Technician

Laboratory Analyst (Contract)

It is expected that successful candidates for this position will have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Chemistry or four semesters of coursework in chemistry. Experience working in an Analytical / Quality Control Lab is a plus.

• Identify and properly handle hazardous waste, which may include proper collection, packaging, labeling, segregation, storage, use of waste manifest and shipping, according to company procedures and instruction.

• Accurate data records and entry into LIMS

• Possess good communication skills for interaction with all chemical plant employees.
• Ability to receive verbal and written direction, including plant safety rules, policies and procedures, and implement them without direct supervision.

• Must have near and far vision with clarity at 20 feet or less.
• Hear well enough to perceive the nature of sounds.
• Have good depth perception as well as be able to distinguish colors.
• Requires the ability to handle tools or equipment, and the physical capacity necessary to perform certain tasks included in the table in section G.

Exposure to chemical plant manufacturing facilities. Must be able to distinguish emergency and other alarms and respond according to prescribed procedures.

Potential exposure to toxic, caustic and pyrophoric chemicals. Proximity to moving mechanical and mobile equipment.

• Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in an industrial chemical plant or refinery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Associate’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology preferred.
• Proficiency in GC, HPLC, and wet chemistry techniques.
• Strong communication and multitasking skills.
• Computer skills:
  Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), LIMS, and EZChrom experience preferred.
• Experience with cGMP and ISO 9001 requirements a plus.

Position requires working a 12‑hour shift. Current schedule is 5:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; weeks alternate between Mon./Wed./Thurs. and Tues./Fri./Sat./Sun. Successful applicants must be flexible and willing/able to provide overtime coverage when needed (including evenings and holidays) and work a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule (days and nights) if needed to support business requirements.
