Job Description
The Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Court Case Manager 2 (Range 12) at the Seward Trial Court. This position offers the opportunity to support court operations through case processing, courtroom services, and public assistance while working with a diverse range of legal case types. The incumbent will be trained as an in-court clerk and may assist with special projects and provide backup support across court operations.
This position serves as a primary point of contact for the public and plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of the court. The incumbent provides courteous customer service by assisting court users, attorneys, partner agencies, and court staff in person, by phone, and in writing. Responsibilities include answering procedural questions without providing legal advice, processing a wide variety of court filings, maintaining case records, entering data into the court's case management system, scheduling hearings, preparing notices and court documents, and ensuring compliance with court policies, procedures, and case management standards.
The position also performs a variety of administrative, financial, and records management functions. Duties include processing payments and receipts, balancing daily cash transactions, preparing accounting reports and deposits, managing writs of execution and garnishments, processing collections, fulfilling records requests, preparing certified copies, maintaining court forms and legal reference materials, processing mail, and preparing files for archiving. The incumbent also administers jury operations by qualifying jurors, maintaining jury records, coordinating jury logistics, and assisting with jury administration throughout the trial process.
In addition, the incumbent serves as an in-court clerk during hearings and trials, supporting judicial officers by preparing courtrooms, operating recording equipment, maintaining accurate records of proceedings, administering oaths, managing exhibits, documenting hearings, and processing all related court documents. This position requires the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment, maintain strict confidentiality, provide backup support across multiple court functions, and adapt to changing operational needs while consistently delivering professional customer service.
The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
Minimum QualificationsGraduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.
OR
Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.
OR
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
