The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC, is recruiting for a Maritime Instructor located in Seward! No Cover Letter Required!

This position is in the Alaska Vocational Technical Teacher's Unit (AVTECTA).

What You Will Be Doing: AVTEC, a Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is recruiting for a Maritime Instructor. This position will develop curriculum for approval by the United States Coast Guard. This position develops training material and maintains equipment used for maritime courses. Additional duties may include advising students with merchant mariner credential applications, simulator operations and outreach activities for rural communities.

The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) trains Alaskans for work in the trades. Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field.

OR SUBSTITUTION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the applicable field; AND Two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; AND Two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.

OR SUBSTITUTION:
An industry recognized professional certification in the applicable field; AND Two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; AND Two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.

Positions in the AVTEC Instructor job class require expertise in a particular vocational field such as the culinary arts, business or office technology, applied technology, information technology, maritime operations or safety, medical services, construction, or the trades.
