What You Will Be Doing:
Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC), a division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is recruiting for an AVTEC Instructor who will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering instruction in the Diesel and Applied Technology programs as a Diesel Instructor. Duties will include learning, maintaining and developing program curriculum; designing, building, and maintaining the practical industry-based labs and shop areas;
facilitating program advisory board meetings; and maintaining student training records.

In this position, you will use your teaching and curriculum development skills to help students gain knowledge and build competencies in new areas.
As a member of the staff at a division of the State of Alaska, you are employed by the State of Alaska and as such are offered paid leave accrual, retirement and health benefits. The nature of the calendar year at AVTEC provides opportunity to travel to remote locations to bring training to Alaskans. You and your dependents have access to AVTEC recreational facilities and AVTEC tuition waivers are available for your dependents for training.
Information:
Starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, State of Alaska policy, Location, and Collective Bargaining Agreement(s).

- Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field.
- OR SUBSTITUTION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the applicable field; AND Two years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field; AND Two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.

Positions in the AVTEC Instructor job class require expertise in a particular vocational field such as the culinary arts, business or office technology, applied technology, information technology, maritime operations or safety, medical services, construction, or the trades.
