Position Overview

As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide mentorship and support to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and mental health challenges. Your lived experience and recovery journey will serve as a foundation to empower and guide others in developing healthy coping strategies, building resilience, and achieving personal goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer peer‑based support to clients in individual and group settings
  • Use lived experience to build trust and inspire hope in recovery
  • Help clients navigate community resources and develop life skills
  • Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and other team members
  • Assist clients in setting and achieving personal recovery goals
  • Promote self‑advocacy and empower clients to take charge of their wellness
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions

Requirements

  • Must have lived experience with substance use recovery
  • Ability to share your recovery journey in a professional and supportive way
  • Strong communication, active listening, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Driver's License
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Peer Support Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet state/federal requirements
