Overview
JAG Alaska, Inc. Seward Shipyard is hiring an Inside Machinist. Periodic travel in Alaska will be required for this position. JAG offers tradesmen a competitive pay structure, with per diem available for qualified applicants. This role involves working in physically demanding marine and industrial environments. Immediate openings are available. Pay DOE, $35 to $40 hourly. Hours per week 40 to 60 depending on workload.
Must be U.S. Citizen or National with clean background for a minimum 10 years and able to pass 10 panel drug screen.
A qualified Inside Machinist with JAG will have a diversified skill set including all levels of:
- Drill press work
- Shaper work
- Lathe work
- Milling machine work
- Vertical and horizontal boring mill work
- Planer work
- Dismantling and erecting work
- Grinding work
- Turret Lathe work
- Lay out work
This position requires working in inside and/or outside environmental conditions, shipyard and/or remote locations, teams in open spaces, heights above 6 feet, and/or in confined spaces. Tasks require repetitive sequences that include balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, seeing, hearing, speaking, and an acute sense of smell. Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move or lift objects.
Protective clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats, safety shoes or boots (steel), and respiratory protection shall be worn accordingly.
