American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Long Term Care facility in Alaska, requiring prior travel nursing experience and an active AK license in hand.
Requirements
- Current Alaska LPN license required in hand at time of submission - license required if applicable
- Minimum 1 year of LPN experience required
- LTC experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Alaska Food Worker Certification required, obtained during on-site orientation with a one-time $10 fee
- Hepatitis B vaccination required; facility only accepts vaccination records, not titers or declinations (medical exemption with written provider documentation may be considered)
- 2 supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable setting
Responsibilities
- Long Term Care (LTC) facility setting with 40 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:20
- 4x12 or 3x12 variable shift schedule, traveler's choice, covering Day ) or Night ) shifts
- Caregivers are typically assigned to either consistent Day or Night shifts, not rotating, based on facility needs at time of start
- 26 or 13 week assignment length, traveler's choice
- Uses ECS charting system
- May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Any scrub color permitted
- Responsibilities include patient admissions, communication of status changes to RN/MD, isolation precautions/PPE, vital sign monitoring, ambulation, skin and mouth care, blood glucose monitoring, medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, eye/ear drops), NG/G tube and feeding tube care, respiratory support (oxygen, nasal cannula, face masks), and foley catheter insertion
- No more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered for a 26-week contract; all RTO requests must be submitted at time of submission and will not be considered after an offer or contract signing
- Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with preference for availability on any holiday
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
- Former Providence permanent staff must wait a minimum of 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Travelers may work a maximum of 1 calendar year at this assignment before requiring a 6-month break to return
- Facility may provide a rental vehicle for personal use within a 30-mile radius of the facility, contingent on candidate providing a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, and being at least 25 years old
