The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Specialist, Plumbing, Journey 2/Lead for the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC), located in Seward, Alaska.
What You Will Be DoingInstall, maintain, and repair all facility plumbing at the Spring Creek Correctional Center in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code and local plumbing code. Properly select and perform work at a professional level with steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, cast iron pipe and composting materials. Provide assistance to other maintenance staff, and perform other duties as assigned.

Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum‑security state operated adult correctional institution that has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. While much of Spring Creek's inmate population serve long term sentences, we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences.
Who We Are Looking ForWe are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
- Architecture:
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and practices used in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of buildings or other structures, taking into consideration aesthetic and functional concerns - Plumbing and Pipe fitting:
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to install, maintain, or repair pipelines, pipe systems, and fixtures, including water, air, steam, gas, chemicals, or sewage. - Communications Security Management:
Knowledge of the principles, policies, and procedures involved in ensuring the security of communications services and data, and in maintaining the communications environment on which it resides
