Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide instruction in Business, with program and curriculum development specializing in Accounting. This position advises and mentors students and participates in the marketing and recruitment for the Business program as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
Responsibilities:- Teach courses, especially upper-level accounting courses, entrepreneurship courses and other business courses
, or general education courses that best fit the skills and interest of the candidate and the needs of the Department of Business and Concordia University. - Engage in curriculum development, course and program assessment, student advising, departmental activities, and assistance with student recruitment.
- Support the growth of the Department of Business, and the University, with innovative ideas, leadership, and assistance in planning and executing strategic initiatives.
- Demonstrate a willingness to enthusiastically embrace the mission and vision of Concordia University, Nebraska.
- Remain current in areas of scholarship and teaching responsibilities.
- Work with colleagues from multiple departments in service to the university.
Education-
- PhD. Preferred. A master's degree or higher in accounting, or a master's degree in a related discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in accounting, is required. Candidates with only a master’s degree must be willing to pursue and complete a terminal degree.
- Preference will be given to those who have a CPA with a record of successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Experience-
- Evidence of excellence in teaching, preferably at the community college or university level.
- Desire to develop professional relationships with students, where the faculty member is seen by all students as an instructor, mentor, and advisor.
- Industry experience, preferably in accounting or a related field.
- A candidate who has passed the CPA exam is preferred.
- Proficient in the use of technology, software applications including Blackboard, Banner, and related applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing necessary for teaching.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks on sometimes short deadlines.

- Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, course development, assessment, best teaching, and administrative practices; or a record of excellence in teaching.
