Assistant, Associate or Professor of Human and Social Sciences/Psychology
Concordia University, Nebraska, an institution affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, is a Christian university.
The main campus is located in Seward, Nebraska. This full‑time faculty position begins in the fall of 2026.
Position PurposeThe purpose of this position is to teach at the undergraduate level, advise students, and assist in the development and execution of strategic initiatives for the College of Education, and the Human and Social Sciences Department.
Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, and Tasks- Teach courses in the Human and Social Sciences Department based on departmental needs.
- Engage in college and departmental planning, course and program assessment, curriculum development, student advising, and assistance with student recruitment and activities.
- Support the growth of the College of Education and Human and Social Sciences through innovative ideas and leadership experiences.
- Demonstrate a sincere commitment to the mission and vision of Concordia University, Nebraska.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge in the content areas of teaching responsibilities.
- Collaborate with colleagues from multiple departments to serve the university.
- Perform other general faculty duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. or terminal degree in a related field preferred; candidates with a master’s degree who agree to pursue a terminal degree will be considered.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at the community college or university level.
- Desire to develop professional relationships with students as instructor, mentor, and advisor.
- Active Christian faith required;
Lutheran Church‑Missouri Synod membership preferred.
- Knowledge of psychology and the human/social sciences professions or direct practical experience in the field is important.
Position Requirements
- Familiarity with higher education, curriculum planning, course development, assessment, and best teaching practices.
- Proficiency in technology use and ability to utilize university-supported technologies.
- Professional communication with a diverse constituency on and off campus.
- Compliance with security policies and reporting of security concerns.
- Maintenance of device security and data protection standards.
- Alignment of values and beliefs with the Lutheran Church‑Missouri Synod.
- Commitment to an encouraging, teamwork‑oriented, and excellence culture within a Christian university.
- Demonstration of character qualities such as enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self‑control, perseverance, and punctuality.
- Professional and courteous conduct toward students, families, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Creation of an environment consistent with university values that fosters student development and Christian faith formation.
- Leadership in interactions that inspire spiritual and character development and build a cohesive team culture.
- Work is normally performed in a classroom and typical interior/office environment.
- Some travel is required for external events, activities, and learning opportunities.
