About
The Role
Under direction of the Plant Manager, the Supervisor is responsible to lead and oversee the safe and sanitary operation of manufacturing process equipment for designated departments. Will perform other tasks as needed while ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety/food safety policies in the facility. This includes working collaboratively in Freeze Drying, Product Unloading, Raw Processing, Ingredient Processing, Packaging and providing overall plant support to the operation of the facility.
Responsibilities- Expected to adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP guidelines, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety or personnel safety.
- Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation and other personnel as needed to achieve the desired level and quality of production.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure solid work relationships always exist.
- Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating issues to minimize their impact on the operations.
- Keep accurate and up to date records (I. e. ADP timecards, staff schedule, etc.)
- Responsible for day-to-day production schedule adherence and attainment of department.
- Encourages suggestions from team members that improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production.
- Consistently conducts and/or assists in employee safety training, job training and keeps team informed of any updates related to processes or policies. Actively engaged in employee onboarding process.
- Responsible for investigating and reporting of all departmental safety related near miss/damage, injury/illness documentation to Safety Department.
- Expected to follow company values and be an ambassador for Petsource.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
In performing their responsibilities, employees are expected to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision, interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers, work effectively as a team contributor and independently while understanding the necessity for communication with other employees and throughout Petsource.
About YouRequired Education & Experience
- 1+ Years of Supervisory Experience in food manufacturing or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, ability to train and motivate department personnel.
- Ability to read and interpret documents safety rules, Standard operating procedures, instructions, and manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Able to speak effectively before groups of team members.
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to solve practical problems, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Bilingual
- Lift up to 60 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit, walk extensively throughout a 10 - 12-hour shift
- This position will be required to work frequently indoors in a cooled sanitary environment with temperatures 45 degrees or below.
- Frequently around loud production equipment.
