Position: Structural Steel Welder/Fabricator (1st Shift)

Structural Steel Welder

Pay: $28+/hr. (depending on experience)

Shift: Days, Flexible on start time

We are seeking a skilled Welder / Fabricator to join our AISC-certified structural steel fabrication team. This position is responsible for fabricating and welding structural steel components in accordance with engineering drawings, AWS welding standards, and AISC quality requirements. The ideal candidate has experience in heavy structural steel fabrication, is proficient with FCAW and GMAW welding processes, and is comfortable operating around forklifts, bridge cranes, and other material handling equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

  • Structural steel welding and fabrication experience in a manufacturing or fabrication shop.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards.
  • Experience welding carbon steel using FCAW and GMAW processes.
  • Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and hand tools.
  • Experience working with overhead bridge cranes and around powered industrial trucks (forklifts).

Job Duties:

  • Read and interpret structural steel fabrication drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
  • Fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel assemblies including beams, columns, braces, stairs, handrails, platforms, and miscellaneous steel components.
  • Perform FCAW and GMAW welding in accordance with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel.
  • Verify dimensions and maintain required tolerances using measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
  • Operate oxy-fuel cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, magnetic drills, ironworkers, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Safely move raw materials and completed assemblies using overhead bridge cranes and work around forklift traffic while following established safety procedures.
  • Inspect weld quality and identify defects requiring repair or rework.
  • Perform weld repairs and grinding to ensure finished products meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Work closely with supervisors, fitters, quality personnel, and other fabrication team members to meet production schedules.
