Staff Accountant

Location: Seymour, CT
Salary: $70,000–$80,000
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, Seymour

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations and review positive pay exceptions.

  • Prepare internal financial statements and journal entries.

  • Record payroll journal entries and reconcile intercompany accounts.

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Initiate ACH payments and bank transfers.

  • Assist with financial and insurance audits.

  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.

  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.

  • Partner cross-functionally with departments across multiple companies.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.

Preferred Qualifications of the Staff Accountant
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 2–3+ years of accounting or finance experience.

  • Strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and general accounting processes.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-company environment.

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

  • Quick Books experience is preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
