Overview
We are partnering with a well-established, family-owned manufacturer with more than 60 years of success designing and producing specialized industrial equipment used across a variety of manufacturing environments.
This is more than a traditional Mechanical Design Engineer position. The organization is seeking a hands-on engineering professional who can contribute immediately through product design, project execution, and manufacturing support while also growing into a future engineering leadership role as part of a long-term succession planning strategy.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical engineering challenges, working closely with manufacturing, and taking ownership of projects from concept through production.
What You'll Do- Design and develop manufactured products, machinery, and industrial equipment
- Lead projects from concept development through production release
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Solid Works
- Drive new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to support product performance and quality
- Develop prototypes and support testing and validation activities
- Evaluate and implement design improvements to existing products
- Support design for manufacturability and production efficiency initiatives
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to solve technical and operational challenges
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout the product lifecycle
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field
- 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience
- Experience designing manufactured products, machinery, capital equipment, or industrial systems
- Strong understanding of product development and project execution
- Experience supporting products from concept through production
- Proficiency with Solid Works
- Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
- Industrial machinery or capital equipment design
- Precision mechanical assemblies
- Thermal or heating systems
- Manufacturing support and process improvement
- Prototype development and testing
- Supplier collaboration and vendor management
- Basic electrical and controls knowledge
- Understanding of sensors, switches, wiring concepts, and control panels
- Experience integrating mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and manufacturing issues
- Hands-on and practical
- Comfortable on the manufacturing floor
- Self-directed and resourceful
- Collaborative and team-oriented
