Tank Inspector – Seymour, CT
Clean Harbors is looking for a Tank Inspector to join their safety‑conscious team. The role primarily involves performing visual, internal, pressure, and leak tests on truck‑mounted tanks, and testing hazardous material and certified tanks such as vac trucks, hydro excavators, oil tankers, guzzlers, tanker trailers, cargo tanks, and more.

- Ensure that health and safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting safely at all times.
- Perform VIPK inspections (visual, internal, pressure, leakage).
- Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Assist with other repairs and preventative maintenance in the shop as required.
- Order parts and maintain inventory as needed.
- Perform necessary tank tests on units and ensure compliance with all government and company standards and regulations.
- Perform repairs to tanks within the inspector’s qualification.
- Apply proper decaling to tanks.
- Maintain all tools and test equipment.
- Assist with locating qualified repair shops when necessary.
- 3+ years of experience as a tank inspector (VIPK inspections) required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- HM‑183 Register Inspector (Tank Inspector) Certificate strongly preferred.
- 1+ year of diesel mechanic experience with heavy‑duty trucks and/or equipment required.
- Own set of basic tools up to ½” (specialty inspector tools provided).
- Strong computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset.
