Veterinary Technician - Seymour Veterinary Hospital
Pet Vet Care Centers’ Seymour Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our team and provide high-quality veterinary care to patients and clients.
Position OverviewAs a Veterinary Technician, you will support hospital operations by delivering dedicated, compassionate patient care and exceptional service. Responsibilities include performing examinations, assisting with diagnostics and surgeries, maintaining records, and supporting overall patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct animal examinations and interviews, review care plans and records, and perform laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.
- Take vital signs, collect samples, administer medications, vaccines, and medications, and bandage and wrap wounds.
- Assist during patient examinations and surgeries by assembling required supplies, restraining patients, and supporting the veterinarian.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment and drug administration.
- Obtain and verify medications.
- Feed patients, maintain the cleanliness of rooms, cages, and equipment, and observe patients for clinical signs.
- Fill prescriptions and administer medication, documenting and securing controlled substances properly.
- Sanitize instruments, disinfect holding and operating areas, verify shelf life, and maintain compliance with regulations.
- Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes accurately in the database.
- Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and arrange repairs.
- Maintain inventory, place orders, verify receipts, and keep records up to date.
- Participate in ongoing education and read professional journals to update knowledge.
- Release pets to owners ensuring they are clean and groomed.
- Follow oral and written directions and perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs, safely control dogs and cats, assist the veterinarian in the exam room, pull and administer vaccines, dispense medications, place IV catheters, infuse fluids IV/SQ, and take x‑rays including dental.
- At least 2 years of floor experience.
- Front‑desk task experience.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician (LVMT).
- Full‑time: 8 AM – 6 PM.
- Part‑time: 8 AM – 2 PM or 2 PM – 6 PM.
