This is a hands on technical role responsible for repairing, upgrading, reconditioning, and remanufacturing electrical equipment ranging from individual circuit breakers to complete substations. You will work with electrical and mechanical components, follow detailed technical instructions, and help ensure equipment is restored safely and correctly for customer use.
What You Will Do Breaker Service and Repair- Clean electrical parts and components
- Remove and reinstall electrical components on circuit breakers with proper documentation
- Read breaker evaluations and work orders and perform the requested service
- Disassemble circuit breakers for inspection, repair, and reconditioning
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical problems
- Work safely on stored energy mechanisms
- Recondition electrical parts such as auxiliary switches, motors, relays, and coils
- Confirm all electrical parts function properly before reinstalling them on equipment
- Read manuals and follow detailed instructions for equipment adjustments
- Read schematic, point-to-point, and one-line wiring diagrams
- Test and troubleshoot electrical wiring
- Electrically operate circuit breakers from wiring schematics, including charge, close, and trip functions
- Operate test equipment relevant to the breaker type
- Support onsite and emergency jobs when needed
- Maintain good housekeeping and organization in the designated work area
- Read and study OEM manuals and technical literature as needed
- Follow procedures carefully and complete work with attention to detail
- Support additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits safely and make repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and complete repairs
- Mechanically inclined with personal tools required
- Ability to use measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Ability and willingness to travel to job sites after training, as needed
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast paced environment
- Team focused with a strong attitude and dependable communication skills
- Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Frequent walking
- Continuous standing and repetitive hand motion
- Occasional reaching or working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
