Role DescriptionThe Small Engine Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Seymour, CT. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related components used in compact tracked machinery, including performing routine service, inspections, and preventative maintenance. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, ordering or installing parts, and documenting work performed in service records and systems.
The technician collaborates with internal staff and dealer partners to provide technical support, answer product and service questions, and help resolve equipment issues in a timely manner. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment and adhering to all safety standards and company policies are essential aspects of the role.
- Strong small engine repair and maintenance skills, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and mechanical aptitude.
- Experience working with construction or compact machinery, including basic electrical and hydraulic systems understanding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and parts diagrams, and to use standard shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate service records and parts inventory information.
- Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with internal teams and dealer technicians.
- Commitment to workplace safety practices, including proper tool use, equipment handling, and adherence to safety guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training, certification, or trade school background is preferred.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as required, stand for extended periods, and work in a hands‑on shop environment.
- Prior experience as a small engine technician or similar mechanical role is strongly beneficial.
