American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg position at a community hospital in Indiana, requiring prior travel experience and a broad clinical skill set including IV therapy, respiratory management, and telemetry monitoring.
Details- Medical/Surgical unit within a community hospital setting
- Patient population includes general med/surg, telemetry, orthopedics, post-surgical, bariatric, neurological, genitourinary, and respiratory cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Meditech charting system experience strongly preferred
- Diverse work settings including Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Orthopedics, and Short Stay/23-hour unit
- Active Indiana or Compact RN license required; may submit with license pending but must be in-hand prior to start
- BLS certification required; ACLS, CMSRN or RN-BC, and PALS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred; LTAC experience preferred
- Strong IV therapy skills required, including peripheral line management, PICC line management, port access, central line blood draws, and blood product administration
- Proficiency in respiratory management including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
- Experience with gastrointestinal care including feeding tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, and bariatric surgery patients
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams preferred
- Experience managing neurological patients including CVA, spinal cord injury, and TBI preferred
- Meditech EMR experience strongly preferred
- Responsibilities span a wide clinical scope including wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, PCA and heparin/insulin medication management, and peritoneal dialysis
- Strong teamwork, communication, time management, and self-direction skills are essential in this fast-paced environment
- Holiday availability must be indicated at time of consideration
- RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
- Pre-start online modules (1–2 hours, non-paid) are required for clearance and must be completed prior to start date
