TIG Welder (Food Processing Facility)
This position focuses on sanitary TIG welding and fabrication in a food processing environment, working primarily with stainless steel. You will perform a wide range of welding, cutting, and metalworking tasks, including reading blueprints, preparing parts, and operating various tools and equipment to support maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities for food-grade systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform sanitary TIG welding on stainless steel components used in food processing applications.
- Carry out MIG, TIG, and arc welding on stainless steel parts and assemblies as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, welding requirements, and fabrication steps.
- Prepare and fit parts for welding, including measuring, cutting, grinding, and aligning components according to blueprints.
- Set up and operate metalworking tools such as saws, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment to make and repair parts.
- Use hand tools, including drills, grinders, wrenches, and other mechanic's tools, to support welding and fabrication work.
- Operate acetylene torches and plasma cutters to cut, shape, and remove metal as needed for fabrication and repair.
- Perform food-grade welding to meet sanitary standards required in a food processing facility.
- Assist with pipe system layout, fabrication, and installation for process lines and related equipment.
- Follow safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and handle tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to support repair, modification, and improvement of equipment and systems.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in sanitary welding within a food processing facility.
- Strong TIG welding skills on stainless steel, with the ability to produce food-grade welds.
- Ability to perform stainless steel MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to prepare and fit parts for welding based on blueprints and fabrication requirements.
- Skill in using hand tools such as drills, grinders, and mechanic's tools including wrenches.
- Experience operating acetylene torches and plasma cutters for cutting and shaping metal.
- Ability to set up and operate metalworking tools such as saws, drill presses, and grinders.
- Knowledge of food-grade welding practices and standards for sanitary applications.
- Understanding of food industry equipment and processes related to metal fabrication and piping.
- Experience with pipe system layout in an industrial or food processing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- TIG welding experience (between 4-8 years preferred)
- Experience in food industry maintenance, fabrication, or equipment repair.
- Familiarity with sanitary piping systems and process line installation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure clean, precise, and sanitary welds.
- Good communication skills to coordinate work with maintenance and production teams.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to facility procedures and standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shafter, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
