Tax Intern

September - October (with flexibility) / ~24 hours per week (with flexibility)

• Prepare individual, trust, estate, gift, foundation, and business tax returns on a timely basis.
• Review tax source documents and data pushed through OCR for accuracy.
• Conduct tax research to support tax planning and compliance efforts.
• Be proactive and stay current on new tax legislation and tax reform.
• Assist with handling Federal and State Tax notices and audits.
• Maintain detailed and organized tax files, including documenting all relevant information and supporting documents for tax returns.
• Collect and input relevant financial records into tax return software or databases.
• Analyze tax data submitted by clients to maximize the outcome to the client.
• Support the tax planning process for clients and members of the Tax team.

• Solid accounting and knowledge of tax laws and regulations in general.
• Interest in preparing individual, trust, and business tax returns.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and willingness to learn tax software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superior problem‑solving abilities as well as good decision‑making skills.
• Strong analytical and deductive reasoning skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to effectively manage a variety of projects accurately and simultaneously within strict deadlines.
• Ability to provide exceptional client service and exhibit a sense of urgency to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting/taxation.

This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
