The salary for this position is $55,000-$60,000 per 10-month school year + $5,000 Sign on bonus. This is inclusive of additional compensation for days worked during our extended school year.

AGENCY SUMMARY

Monarch School for Autism at Bellefaire JCB is looking for a full-time Intervention Specialist to work at Monarch School, which serves students ages 3 through 21 with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This person should be caring, creative and passionate about making a difference in the lives of children.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Intervention Specialist will work within an interdisciplinary team that includes Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behavior Specialists, Associate Teachers, Art Therapists, Music Therapist, Recreational Therapist, and Horticulture Therapist. Monarch School offers small classroom sizes (approximately 5 to 8 students per classroom), a cohesive Academic Department (with 25 Intervention Specialists), and access to an abundant supply of technology, curriculum and assessments, providing an exceptional work environment.

Classroom teams are intentionally small, so students can receive one-on-one and small group instruction within the confines of Monarch’s visual language immersion teaching model, which combines concept-driven language instruction with visual supports, technology and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We offer a mentoring program for new Intervention Specialists and guidance from supervisory support staff, as well as a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Responsible for implementing appropriate educational plans for each student and class, including but not limited to:
    • Participate, develop and implement each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
    • Develop lesson plans for small groups and/or individual instruction based on current diagnostic evaluations, considering student strengths and weaknesses and using appropriate learning and teaching modalities.
    • As case manager, organize and lead IEP meetings, which may include school district, parents and other invited agencies.
    • Review and keep IEP and related data collection documentation up to date.
  • Supervise each student in an assigned class, providing general supervision and monitoring throughout the day.
  • Ensure congruence between the educational plans at Monarch School and the treatment goals established by the clinical team at Monarch Boarding Academy.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning for the Residential & Educational Autism Services Division.
  • Help foster mutual respect, camaraderie, and a sense of joint identity between educational staff and residential staff serving the same student boarders.
  • Lead the Residential Education classroom/s through Extended School Year programming.
  • Lead parent staffing meetings.
  • Evaluate the performance of Instructional Aides on the team, including issuing disciplinary action as appropriate, and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Participate and make recommendations in hiring, disciplinary and discharge processes for Instructional Aides, and adjust any grievances filed by associate teachers.
  • Assign and responsibly direct associate teachers in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
