The Student Care Specialist provides Student Assistance Services in the Shaker Schools and is supervised by the Executive Director. The Student Care Specialist acts as a liaison between the School and the Agency, implementing prevention programs to identified students in the school. The Agency operates through school-based programs, as well as prevention programs offered on-site. The Student Care Specialist must be comfortable with the school-based focus of the Agency, the youth we serve and be sensitive to its diverse clientele.
The Agency is committed to multiculturalism throughout its organizational structure and service delivery system.
1) Prevention Service Responsibilities at the School
- Facilitation of student prevention activities. Build resiliency in youth through mentoring, social-emotional support and life skill education.
- Resource and referral- linking students to appropriate services in both the schools and community.
- Support for school bonding and achievement
- Collaboration with the school’s multidisciplinary team and other professional staff to provide resources that best meet the needs of the students.
- PTO meetings and other family engagements as needed.
- Community facilitation of student prevention education activities
- Assisting access to resources
- Information Dissemination
- Participate in school and community activities as appropriate
- Participate in Board sponsored activities as required or appropriate.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years or older, possess a high school diploma or higher and be able to pass a background check.
- LISW-S, LISW, LSW, LPCC-S LPCC, or LPC
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
- Maintain conduct appropriate to OCPS Code of Ethics and Agency Standards
- Maintain proper and timely record keeping.
- Follow Agency scheduling and personnel policies.
- Maintain appropriate licensure and professional development.
