Mgr Trade Operations

Job Overview

The Manager, Trade Operations is responsible for maintaining compliance with all necessary government regulations while importing goods in the most cost‑efficient manner possible. The role focuses on imports into the US and other key countries, developing import strategies, providing operational leadership to the Trade Operations team, and coordinating training across international operating units.

• Develop and maintain import customs policies in partnership with Trade Compliance.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to the trade operations team, leading technical projects.
• Perform general management responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, and work direction.
• Engage cross‑functionally with global and regional teams to carry out business goals.
• Oversee global broker management performance, including compliance controls and metrics.
• Manage duty reduction programs (free trade agreements, duty drawback, USMCA, GSP, etc.).
• Partner with Legal and Trade Compliance to evaluate import risks, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and participate in government initiatives.
• Resolve regulatory challenges through relationships with US and foreign regulatory agencies, e.g., CBP, FDA.
• Continuously review and validate HTS tariff classifications to ensure compliance.
• Monitor global trade regulatory updates and changes to ensure continued compliance.
• Communicate and elevate trade risks to Trade Compliance.
• Develop performance metrics for Trade Operations to measure success and operational excellence.
• Represent Trade Operations interests in supply chain, manufacturing, new product development, new market development, and commercial initiatives.
• Create and conduct training content for internal partners on trade operation matters.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related or relevant field.
• Five or more years’ experience in compliance, import/export operations, and/or logistics.
• Knowledge of Census Bureau (AES), ATA Carnets, ACE, HTS classifications, CBP regulations, and free trade agreement program certificate preparation.
• Operational knowledge of other government agencies and their impact on business.
• Thorough understanding of import processing and operations, including entry, clearance, and post‑entry functions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
• Excellent technical, analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Customs Broker License.

The anticipated starting base pay ranges from $120,144 to $176,211 per year, depending on geographic location, education, skills, and experience. The position is eligible for the company’s discretionary annual incentive plan.
