Position Summary
The Estimator / Project Manager - (Steel or Ironwork)
EstimatingKey responsibilities regarding estimating include:
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for bids and change orders
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to define scope
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and proposals
- Maintain historical cost data and estimating databases
- Participate in scope review and pricing discussions with customers
- Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Develop project schedules, erection sequences, and phasing plans
- Coordinate drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field communication
- Track labor hours, materials, equipment, and overall project costs
- Prepare and manage change orders and budget updates
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and field teams
- Coordinate closely with field supervision and ironworkers
- Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress and resolve issues
- Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and quality standards
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience in construction estimating, preferably structural steel or ironwork
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and construction documents
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit jobsites
- Project management experience in structural or specialty construction
- Familiarity with Bluebeam, MS Project, AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar software
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
