Assistant Special Education Director/Building Administrator, 8 hours a day for 260 contract days.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Special Education Director/Building Administrator is primarily responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly learning environment through proactive student management and the rigorous application of district conduct policies. This role oversees student management systems, monitors attendance trends, and utilizes performance data to implement targeted behavioral and instructional interventions. As a key communicator, the Administrator fosters strong partnerships by providing timely updates to staff, parents, and community constituents regarding student progress and school activities.
Furthermore, the position leads building-level accountability and assessment efforts by organizing school testing, training staff on protocols, and disaggregating data to drive continuous improvement in student achievement.
Student Management
- Understand and follow district policies and best practices as they relate to student discipline and communication
- Supervision of building: halls, lunch room, etc.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of student management programs and systems
- Address transportation issues when needed
- Understand special education and individual education plans to help manage behaviors
- Monitor student attendance for all students and work with staff and county to implement attendance plans for individual students
- Facilitate the implementation of the code of student conduct in accordance with school and system policy to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment
- Utilize student performance data and educator feedback to inform instructional practices and recommend targeted interventions
- Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies
- Interpret, evaluate, and analyze student assessment and program evaluation results for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement in the District
- Coordinate the implementation of effective and efficient assessment systems and data collection processes that provide a record of baseline measures and track longitudinal trends
Accountability and Assessment
- Organize and coordinate school assessments
- Train other staff on testing protocols
- Assist in the disaggregation of the data to be used for future instruction
- Act as a resource person to other administrative staff in the development and implementation of administrative practices, policies and procedures for the District
Communications
- Communicate with constituents in a timely manner
- Communicate with staff, students, parents and community partners about concerns, activities and progress of the school
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
- Communicate the latest developments in curriculum and innovative instructional programs to improve student achievement
School Safety
- Collaborate with the administrative team to organize and evaluate drills and safety protocols
- Ensure a safe learning environment with consistent monitoring of safety protocols
- Promote a school environment that is safe and conducive to individualized instruction and student learning
Staffing and Human Resources
- Support the coaching and/or supervision of staff
- Collaborate with administrators to supervise and evaluate teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and make recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment
- Support the coaching and evaluation of licensed and non-licensed staff and provide assistance and resource services to the District-wide evaluation of staff
- Offer one-on-one coaching sessions to teachers based on classroom observations and data analysis, fostering continuous improvement and innovation
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of certified and classified personnel
Instructional and Program Leadership
- Assist in the development and implementation of an effective staff development program
