Description:

Adult ESL Instructor, 185 Contract Days

This role is primarily teaching ESL lower level (1-3) with flexibility to teach higher levels (4-6) based on community need and program enrollment. This role is not assigned to one building; class locations may vary depending on student demand across our South West Metro region. Teaching hours Morning/Afternoon (M-Thurs), Evening online 2 days a week, with in person prep and tutoring on Fridays.

Teach adult English learners using a student-centered, scaffolded curriculum Collaborate with a supportive team of instructors, community ed staff, and administrators Adapt lessons to meet learners' language levels, goals, and cultural experiences Help adult learners build skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing for everyday life, work, and continued education Utilize distance learning opportunities for students

Job Summary:

Provide instruction to student learners in the core content areas as defined by the state of Minnesota, and specifically English Language to non-native populations. Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and keeping student records.

Qualifications:

Experience working with multicultural populations and English language learners preferred. Valid Minnesota Teaching License, preferred licensure would be in English Language Learners, K-12. Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction. Proficient and effective computer skills. Strong classroom management skills. Ability to build successful relationships with students and staff. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Pay & Benefits:
