Job Summary

Nortek Data Center Cooling is looking for a motivated Lab Engineer to join our Thermal Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have experience in a laboratory setting or possess HVACR field/manufacturing experience, have a high attention to detail, and capability to setup/operate/analyze complex HVACR systems. The successful candidate will be expected to operate and maintain laboratory equipment, execute a wide range of testing standards, and conduct thermodynamic, mechanical, and electrical analysis based upon existing standards and best practices.

Job Responsibilities
  • All duties to be conducted under the direction and supervision of the Lab Director
  • Conduct a wide variety of thermodynamic tests in accordance with ANSI, AMCA, ASHRAE and/or ISO standards. Typical tests include heating and cooling performance, evaporative cooling, fan/pump/HX performance, electrical validation, and failure mode analysis
  • Install and configure electronic instrumentation and data acquisition equipment.
  • Design and construct test fixtures including duct work, mechanical structures, controls, and measurement devices. Assistance is available from other team members as required.
  • Execute testing plans including setup, calibration, measurement, troubleshooting, analysis, teardown, and report of findings.
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and facility in conjunction with Lab Technician(s) and other Lab Engineer(s)
  • Conduct witness testing for an approving authority at either our facility or the agency’s facility.
  • Maintains an attitude which consistently represents the organizational culture, including: the mission, vision and core attributes.
  • Other Ad hoc duties as assigned by manager.
  • Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.
