Ziegler CAT is seeking an Electrical Engineer to help support our electric power generation group. In this role, you will collaborate across Ziegler’s Power Systems division and other business lines to deliver integrated power systems solutions for commercial and industrial customers. The Electrical Engineer is responsible for design and technical support of electrical distribution systems for new projects and retrofits. The engineer works directly with sales, service technicians, project managers, and customers to deliver reliable power generation and distribution solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with sales teams to review customer requirements and generate technical proposals
  • Provide end‑to‑end engineering support for generator installations—site assessments, electrical evaluations, system layout, and integration with existing infrastructure
  • Recommend equipment (ATS, paralleling gear, switch gear) that meets project specifications
  • Design electrical systems, components, and equipment based on project requirements
  • Create schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Specify materials, components, and electrical equipment
  • Assist in planning and executing electrical engineering projects
  • Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and testing
  • Work closely with the electric power sales team, project management, and our service teams
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, contractors, and consulting engineers
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations as needed
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key clients and vendors in collaboration with other Ziegler sales representatives
  • Work with clients to understand their technical challenges and suggest solutions or improvements
  • Learn about CAT products, allied products and comparisons against competitive products to offer the best solutions based on customer interests and concerns
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or equivalent experience) – Preferably in an Engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • PE certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of distributed generation systems, switch gear, controls schemes, and electrical design principles
  • Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and industry standards
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Electric Power, Electrician, Generator or Reciprocating Engine experience desired
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record
