Senior Electrical Engineer
Position Overview:
You will design and develop embedded hardware and firmware for our card personalization business, working on microcontroller and FPGA designs, prototyping, debugging, and production support.
- Design, schematic capture, and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor-based products
- Develop complex embedded systems involving mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, and integration across hardware and firmware domains
- Develop or support firmware and/or FPGA designs
- Lead board bring‑up, debugging, and root‑cause analysis of hardware issues
- Test and verify new designs
- Lead or support transition of designs into production
- Contribute to identification of emerging technologies and support technical direction within assigned projects
- Work with vendors and sourcing to define technical requirements for components and subsystems
- Design for and support qualification of products to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CE
- Create and execute test plans for hardware and software validation
- Design and implement test fixtures to verify circuit board and system functionality for production testing
- Mentor junior engineers, technicians, and interns on design practices and debugging techniques
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of embedded hardware design experience, including schematic capture, layout, and board bring‑up
- Independent design, bring‑up, debugging, and delivery of embedded hardware systems
- Strong analog and digital circuit design skills, including DC/DC power supplies and common interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB)
- Experience in C/C++ and/or VHDL or Verilog
- Effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams (engineering, product management, manufacturing)
- Unrestricted lawful work authorization in the U.S.
- Experience with EE design tools (Mentor Graphics)
- Experience with FPGA development tools (Xilinx, Microsemi, Intel/Altera)
- Experience with smart card, RFID, NFC, printing, or motion control systems
- Knowledge of project management concepts (timelines, costs, requirements, resources)
- 7+ years of embedded hardware design experience
- Demonstrated ownership of high‑quality designs focused on reliability, performance, and manufacturability
- Curiosity and initiative in evaluating new technologies and design approaches to improve development speed or product performance
- Experience in fast‑paced development environments with iterative design cycles and engineering rigor
- Openness to adopting modern development tools, including AI‑assisted tools, for design efficiency and documentation
Minneapolis, MN – working in‑office Monday through Friday.
Compensation and BenefitsBase salary: $96,797–$141,969 per year (location‑based). Includes discretionary annual incentive plan.
