This position is responsible for working with project teams to provide product testing services.
Responsibilities- Provide product testing services for new product development, product cost reductions, manufacturing plant transfers, and other projects requiring testing services.
- Participate in multiple project team efforts, collaborating with design engineering, project management, operations, purchasing and material planning.
- Assist in documenting product requirements based on industry standards.
- Develop product evaluation test procedures and schedules.
- Develop test fixtures and test software as necessary.
- Specify and acquire new test equipment as necessary.
- Perform measurement system analysis.
- Submit lab requests, schedule testing resources and provide technical support and guidance to technicians performing tests.
- Provide regular feedback to product development teams on progress and results of testing.
- Write test reports documenting results of testing.
- Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation for conformance to company, customer, agency and industry specifications and standards.
- Deliver technical improvements to existing products, processes and services to reduce cost or improve quality where feasible.
- Maintain competency with corporate, business unit and lab quality management system documentation.
- Maintain competency with relevant industry standards for fiber‑optic products.
- Maintain competency with the range of lab test equipment or equivalent.
- Maintain competency with fiber‑optic products and technical principles or equivalent.
- Apply engineering tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC, DoE, FMEA, MSA and uncertainty analysis.
- Travel internationally as required.
- Collaborate with current lab staff, including other test engineers and technicians, in a team‑oriented environment.
- Maintain and create lab documentation.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 5 years experience in a related area.
- Solid communication skills, including excellent writing and fluency in English.
- Strong computer skills, preferably with programming experience.
- Skilled at planning and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to deliver technical improvements to existing products, processes and services.
Experience with design and testing of fiber‑optic products per international and domestic industry standards.
