Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will manage procurement activities, ensuring cost‑effectiveness and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This role requires advanced communication skills, adept negotiation abilities, risk‑management expertise, and a collaborative approach to foster team‑oriented strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate procurement concepts to stakeholders at all levels, resolve conflicts, and build consensus when necessary. Ensure transparency in purchasing policies and procedures.
- Utilize strong negotiation skills to resolve disputes and secure advantageous terms, creating compromise or alternative solutions that benefit stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate business‑critical risks associated with procurement activities. Conduct market analysis, understand supplier risks, and implement strategies to manage potential impacts on supply‑chain continuity and cost.
- Develop joint strategies and foster a team‑oriented environment. Accept and analyze multiple viewpoints to drive the best overall solution.
- Establish new supplier relationships and implement onboarding processes. Evaluate and monitor contracts, conduct supplier reviews and audits, and develop risk‑management programs. Escalate issues to appropriate decision‑makers when necessary.
- Build relationships at a higher management level internally and with suppliers to foster open communication and move the relationship forward.
- Possess advanced IT skills, including proficiency in ERP systems, data‑analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Optimize purchasing processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Identify root causes and provide solutions for continuous improvement. Stay informed on industry best practices and pursue ongoing education and training.
- Interpret complex data related to market trends, pricing, and supply‑chain logistics. Evaluate the pros and cons of different suppliers and products to make informed decisions. Ensure accuracy in order processing, inventory records, and contract management.
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with suppliers to ensure high‑quality service delivery. Provide timely and effective support to internal stakeholders regarding procurement‑related inquiries and issues. Actively seek and address feedback from internal customers to improve service levels and supplier performance.
- Handle large volumes of work and prioritize efficiently. Adapt to changes rapidly and respond in an organized fashion.
- Maximize the utilization of tools to enhance departmental functions and minimize costs.
- Analyze purchasing data to identify trends, cost‑saving opportunities, and areas for improvement. Generate regular reports on purchasing metrics, supplier performance, and cost analysis. Provide data‑driven insights to support strategic decision‑making and ensure the integrity and accuracy of all purchasing data. Create visual representations of data to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
- High School Diploma
- 6+ years of purchasing or related experience
- ERP system experience
- Ability to lead teams and influence peers and other cross‑functional teams; strong communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- BA/BS Degree
- Purchasing experience working in a fast‑paced Global Supply Chain environment
- Oracle ERP and COUPA
- Knowledge of SWS Quicksight and Tableau a plus
- Agile Documentation System
- Commodity knowledge including Electrical and Mechanical Material in a manufacturing environment
- CPM or CPSM Certification
