Senior Operations Manager oversees budgetary, people development, and operational objectives at the site. The role manages and leads a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching them to meet performance objectives, building employee relations, and developing leadership within the Fulfillment Center.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement and process optimization initiatives, including Lean methodologies, to enhance operational efficiency and enable the FC to achieve and surpass business objectives.
- Oversee overall performance of either the Inbound or Outbound operation, including safety, quality, and customer experience.
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Managers accountable.
- Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, incorporating them into improvement plans.
- Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the network.
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, other Sr. Operations Managers) to secure resources for projects and initiatives.
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walk around the FC frequently; FCs are over a quarter mile in length.
- Stand or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
- Work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air-conditioned.
- Access all areas of building safely (ascending/descending ladders, stairs, gangways).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
- 7+ years direct management experience in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
- Experience with the full staffing lifecycle: interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and termination.
- Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field; MBA preferred.
- Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
