Job SummaryThe primary duties of a mould maker include repairing mold equipment by utilizing various tools and equipment to weld, file, grind, vent, polish, letter cut, lathe work, and millwork. This is an hourly position in a union environment.
Responsibilities- Weld, grind, file, machine, and polish mold equipment to return it to specifications.
- Grind lathe tools and perform lathe work as needed.
- Operate a surface grinder when reducing mold equipment.
- Use manual lathe and milling machines for repairing mold equipment.
- Maintain welding torches and gauges in safe and proper working conditions.
- Use gauges to verify equipment to correct dimensions.
- Keep work area clean and follow safe working practices.
- Inspect mold equipment as required.
- Inform supervisor of any irregularities in materials and mold equipment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment.
- Technical school degree desired; years of experience or equivalent education considered.
- CNC programming and operations preferred.
- Welding and blueprint reading experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures.
- Ability to follow directions and manage multiple tasks.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team to reach common goals.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong prioritization and planning skills.
- Attention to accuracy, thoroughness, and quality improvement.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Requirements
This position requires hourly work in a union setting, swinging shifts between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Candidates must handle extreme hot temperatures, 100% indoor work, and noise levels up to 70 dB. Exposure to dusts of lead, nickel, chromium, graphite is possible. Compliance with environmental and food safety standards is required.
