Journeyman Machine Operator (Forming Department)

Anchor Glass Container LLC is a leading North American manufacturer of premium glass containers. This position requires a carded Forming Journeyman Operator who has completed a 2‑year glass forming apprenticeship program. Verification of training is required.

• Swab molds and mold equipment as necessary.
• Oil moving parts of the machine when required.
• Perform frequent general checks of finished ware.
• Conduct periodic detailed inspections of finished ware using scales for weight and gauges for dimensions.
• Investigate and respond to complaints from the foreman regarding excessive defective ware.
• Identify causes for defects in finished products, such as poor glass conditioning or machine malfunctions.
• Adjust air pressure, deflectors, mechanical and computerized timing devices; manage water, gas, and oil lines; and perform minor adjustments to feeder equipment.
• Notify the Feeder Man of major adjustments or repairs needed on shears or other feeder equipment.
• Alert the Upkeepman when defects cannot be corrected by the operator.
• Assist the Upkeepman and work with the Job Change Man on all mold and machine changes.
• Perform partial mold and equipment changes with or without help from the Job Change Man, as required.
• Report malfunctions or production delays between the forming machine and the lehr to the Upkeepman or Foreman.
• Remove jams on conveyors or stackers when necessary.
• Immediately report defective machines, equipment, molds, tools, and bad glass to the foreman.
• Record machine activity, item information, and other data on the Operator’s Report Card.
• Maintain a clean work area.

• Carded Forming Journeyman Operator with a completed 2‑year glass forming apprenticeship.
• Verification of training required.
• Knowledge of forming machine operation and maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform detailed inspections.
• Effective communication skills to report defects and coordinate with equipment personnel.
