American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU/SCU float position at a Level 3 trauma acute care hospital in Minnesota, requiring a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience and strong critical care skills.
Requirements- Active MN RN license required; pending license accepted
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS; CCRN preferred
- Minimum 1 year of ICU/specialty experience required
- Cardiac monitoring experience required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12‑lead EKG acquisition, multi‑system organ failure management
- Thermoregulation experience required: hypothermia and hyperthermia protocols
- IV insulin protocol experience required
- GI surgery experience required
- Chronic and acute renal failure experience required
- IV therapy skills required: port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts
- Medication management skills required: continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Neurological case experience required: CVA/acute stroke management, EVD management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post‑neurosurgery care, spinal cord injury, and TBI management
- Respiratory/thoracic experience required:
BiPAP and CPAP management, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT and NT suctioning, ventilator management - Additional skills required: infection and isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and care of surgical wounds with drains/wound VAC
- 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
- Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
- Position is a SCU/ED Float RN role within an ICU setting at a 63‑bed acute care hospital
- Unit operates with an average daily census of 5, with 8 rooms and 10 beds
- Night shift schedule: 4x12‑hour shifts (1900‑0730)
- Every other weekend required
- On‑call may be required as needed per department
- Floating required to other units, specifically the ED, to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling is not available; the scheduler will work with candidates to accommodate shift preferences as best as possible
- Charting system:
Epic (Excellian) - Level 3 trauma facility
- Scrub color:
Navy - Parking is free in any unrestricted space
- Float coverage includes the ED and potentially affiliate hospitals nearby
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff or per diem must have been separated for at least 3 months from their last shift worked before being considered
- Pre‑start modules are required to be completed before the assignment begins
- RTO of no more than 5 days is preferred for this assignment
