Delicatessen Clerk

As a Delicatessen Clerk, this position will be responsible for handling food in a safe manner and ensuring the work area is always clean and neat. You will run the department registers and receive payments, make change, etc., where applicable. Additionally you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Core competencies include partnerships, growth mindset, results orientation, customer focus, and professionalism. This position reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home;
Food Service Director;
Delicatessen Department Manager. There are no positions that report to this role.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, assisting customers, answering the telephone, taking customer orders at the delicatessen counter, working with co-workers as a team, reviewing orders, understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures, preparing and replenishing product, running the department registers, removing trash, and adhering to company policies.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include washing dishes, ordering product and supplies, delivering orders, pricing products, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job related duties and special projects.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to understand and follow instructions, solve arithmetic calculations, and perform physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
